The Master Class — Mandan, North Dakota
Monday, August 24th, 2026 | $600 Per Seat
The Master Class is coming to Mandan, North Dakota.
This is a full-day, hands-on photo engraving training class built around the methods, workflow, calibration, image preparation, machine knowledge, and techniques I’ve developed through years of actually doing this work.
This isn’t a class where you sit around watching a PowerPoint all day. We’re going to work.
We’ll start with the machine itself and make sure you understand how to properly calibrate and dial it in for the precision photo engraving requires. From there, we’ll work through image preparation, settings, materials, testing, troubleshooting, and the little things that make the difference between an engraving that is just “okay” and one that makes somebody stop and ask how the hell did you do that?
And then there’s the stuff that makes The Master Class different.
I’m going to teach you the techniques, methods, tricks, and secrets that I’ve developed over the years and shared with previous Master Class students—the things that completely changed the way many of them engrave.
You’re not going to find this exact knowledge in a YouTube video. You’re not going to get it from a laser manufacturer’s manual or their version of “training.”
Manufacturers can teach you how to operate their machine.
I’m going to teach you how to make that machine produce the results you bought it for in the first place.
There are things I teach in this class that most people in this industry simply do not know, because they were discovered through years of testing, failing, experimenting, engraving, teaching, and figuring out why something works instead of simply accepting that it works.
Previous Master Class students know exactly what I mean.
We’ll also spend time working with Laser DaSH-IT and how I use it as part of my current photo engraving workflow.
Whether you’ve been engraving for years or you’re still trying to figure out why your photographs don’t look the way you know they should, my goal is for you to leave understanding why we do what we do—not simply carrying home another list of settings to copy.
What We’ll Cover
- Machine calibration and getting the precision required for photo engraving
- Understanding how your laser actually produces an image
- Image preparation and processing
- Laser DaSH-IT and my current workflow
- DPI, line interval, power, speed and how they actually work together
- Material testing and properly dialing in an engraving
- Getting better detail, contrast and tonal range
- Diagnosing bad results and knowing what to change and why
- My photo engraving methods from beginning to end
- Advanced techniques, tricks and methods learned through years of real-world engraving
- The things I teach my students that aren’t being taught by the manufacturers
- Plenty of questions, demonstrations and real-world problem solving
Class begins at 9:00 AM and is scheduled until approximately 5:00 PM.
I don’t chase people out at 5:00. If we’re working on something, answering questions, or there’s something else I can show you, we keep going.
After class, you’re not simply sent home and forgotten. You’ll also become part of The Master Class community, where previous students continue to share their work, ask questions, troubleshoot problems, network, and keep learning from one another.
You’re Making an Excellent Investment in Yourself
If you’re serious about improving your photo engraving, I genuinely believe you’re making an excellent choice by attending this class.
You can spend months—or years—trying to piece this information together yourself, watching videos, changing settings, wasting material and wondering why somebody else’s engraving looks better.
Or you can spend a day with me and learn the things it took me years to figure out.
That’s what you’re paying for.
Not a settings sheet.
Knowledge. Understanding. Precision. Execution.
